Hospiscare is a local charity providing high-quality, dedicated and professional care to local people with a terminal diagnosis. With support from the local community we are able to provide free of charge care and support to those who need it.
We employ professionals that are often leaders in their field and as well as the physical, we can help with the emotional, social and spiritual problems of having a terminal illness.
What makes Hospiscare special is that we see each patient and members of their family as individuals, with their own unique needs and wishes.
Hospiscare is not a national charity; we were founded in 1982 for the local community by the local community and work independently to help local patients and their families.
We currently have 28 nurses who are based in towns across Exeter, mid and east Devon, who visit homes and hospitals and are on-hand to give advice 24 hours a day.
Our nurses provide specialist care and practical support to people in their own homes, at the RD&E Hospital and at our hospice in Exeter, supported by our team of doctors and consultants.
Hospiscare cares for around 700 patients at any one time, with the majority visited in their own homes.
We have a 12 bed in-patient unit at our hospice in Dryden Road, Exeter, as well as day centres in Exeter, Tiverton and Seaton.
In 2014 Hospiscare will be opening a day hospice in Honiton to serve people in East Devon.
